Mango-Chia-Ginger- & Turmeric Smoothie

Now, before you discredit this smoothie by reading the name of it’s ingredients, let’s be rational. Shall we? Ok!! This smoothie has to be one of my most delightful creations!! Just when I think I have a fav, here I go blending again! I’ll get into the enormous health benefits of this tropical greatness in just a few. If I could blend each of you this smoothie, have a smoothie party, & we all say “cheers” and drink at once, today probably would’ve been that day! Seriously, it’s just that gooooddd!!! Mango/Banana mixed together is a match made in heaven. But the hint of the spice of ginger, along with the earthy taste of turmeric, topped with the creamy thickness of the chia seeds is a to “death due us part” type relationship! Can you just see the seeds gently speckled through in this pic? BEE-U-TI-FUL!! It is rich, sweet, tropical, power overloaded, refreshing, & healthy!! Simple as that!

Nooowww….. let’s talk health benefits of these 3 power foods (chia, ginger, & turmeric) Are you still with me? Good.

These small, but GRAND seeds known as “chia seeds” are a powerhouse alone! Did you know that chia seeds are packed with as many antioxidants as berries? Oh yeah, you read right! Chia seeds are an unprocessed whole-grain food that can be processed by the body as seeds (unlike flaxseeds). They contain healthy omega-3, fatty acids, carbohydrates, protein, fiber, & calcium. 

Ginger has a quite a long history for relieving digestive problems, nausea, loss of appetite, motion sickness, & pain, The root of the ginger plant can be consumed fresh, dried, or  in the form of juice. Not too shabby huh?

Turmeric has the most beautiful rust color. Turmeric is basically a power spice that practically everyone needs to be incorporating. It’s used to fight inflammation, it’s an antioxidant, protects the heart in ways, helpful for arthritis, & boosts the brain.

Ingredients

1/2 cup of frozen mango

1 well ripened banana

1/2 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk

A small quarter size chunk of fresh ginger (grated) or to taste

A small chunk of fresh turmeric root (grated) or to taste

1 & 1/2 tbsp of chia seeds

*Top with shredded coconut flakes & roasted pecans for good measure.

Instructions

Blend all above ingredients in blender until smooth. Enjoy!!
